Death Tax Vote in Senate
Sen. Bill Frist: "This absurd tax tells every American that no matter how hard you work or how wisely you manage your affairs, in the end the federal government is going to take it away. The death tax raises minimal revenue yet it depresses savings and discourages entrepreneurship, leading to smaller business investment, weaker worker productivity, lower wages and less wealth creation. It is double and, in some cases, triple taxation and has been destroying businesses and ruining lives for four generations. This tax is flat WRONG, so Thursday, June 8, I will have the Senate vote on a full and permanent repeal of the death tax. I urge you to sign my petition." Bill Frist, M.D.

Police doubt wife’s "lover-in-closet-killed-my-husband" story Martha Freeman, 41, and Rafael De Jesus Rocha-Perez, 36, are scheduled to go to trial in May for the first-degree murder of Freeman's husband, Jeffrey. The wife told police Rocha-Perez had been living in a closet in the guest bedroom for a month before her husband heard him snoring and went to investigate. Rocha-Perez, who authorities say is in the country illegally, is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bail.

Time For Cynthia McKinney To Go Home
By Star Parker
You know we've come a long way when our idea of racism has moved from fire hoses and segregation to a black congresswoman's outrage at not being recognized by a Capitol Hill policeman. Only a member of Congress as detached from reality as Ms. McKinney could not appreciate the destructiveness of her behavior. Her strident, divisive, and inappropriate racial politics are not for this time. It's time for Ms. McKinney to go home. Let's hope she gets the hint. Voters are fed up with their representatives in Washington. The latest polling done by Fox News shows that a 36 percent approval rating for President Bush actually looks good compared to the 29 that both Democrat and Republican members of Congress get.

Michelle Malkin: The Party of Police-Haters
There's only one thing more damning than the recent caterwauling of cop-bashing Rep. McKinney and her race-mongering mob: The stone-cold silence of Beltway Democrats.
The Right Angle
Rep. Cynthia McKinney's allegations that she was "inappropriately touched" with "excessive force" because she was a female, black Congresswoman after failing to identify herself to Capitol Police are not the first of her controversial comments.
WO Comment: U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., for her recent unprofessional conduct, one of many instances, is unfit for public service and is an embarrassment to her state, her electorate, her party, her gender, and her race. One can only hope the voters of Georgia will have the rational, common sense judgment to elect someone else more suitable.
Homosexual Activists Vow to Spoil Children’s Easter Egg Hunt at Whitehouse By Gudrun Schultz
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 10, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Gay couples plan on crashing the White House Easter Egg Roll next Monday, to “help” President Bush’s appreciation for the needs of gay families. The Family Pride Coalition has organized some 200 gay families to attend the event who say they will wear rainbow leis to identify themselves. The group has insisted they are not staging a protest. “We’re not protesting the president’s policies on gay families. We are, however, helping him understand that gay families exist in this country and deserve the rights and protections that all families need,” Jennifer Chrisler, the executive director of Family Pride, told the Herald Tribune. Mark Tooley, who directs the United Methodist committee at the Institute on Religion and Democracy, disagrees. “It’s facetious and not very persuasive for Family Pride to say they’re not making a political statement,” Tooley said in an interview with the Herald. President Bush has spoken out in defense of traditional marriage, in 2004 supporting a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and last year stating his belief that children are better served by growing up in with a father and mother, in an interview with the New York Times. While “children can receive love from gay couples,” he said he believed “studies have shown that the ideal is where a child is raised in a married family with a man and a woman.” At a news conference last month the president said that “society’s interest” is met by “defining marriage as between an man and a woman.” (c) Copyright: LifeSiteNews.com, a production of Interim Publishing. Spending, Immigration Key Concerns for Conservatives
Responses from our recent survey, "The Pulse of Grassroots Conservatives," show that there is concern going into the 2006 elections. However, the primary causes of Republican frustration are easily identified and can be corrected by Republican leaders standing strong against the Democrats and staying true to core Republican principles.
House Members Tag Senate Immigration Effort as 'Amnesty'
As the Senate Judiciary Committee debated provisions of a new immigration reform measure, border security advocates in the House sent a letter to their Senate colleagues saying that the proposed bill amounts to a form of amnesty for illegal aliens.
McCain and Hillary Rally Illegal Aliens
Senators John McCain (R.-Ariz.) and Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.), the current frontrunners for their parties' 2008 presidential nominations, joined Senators Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) and Charles Schumer (D.-N.Y,) in rallying a group of illegal aliens who came to Washington, D.C., on March 8 as part of a lobbying effort funded by a foreign government to push for amnesty for illegal aliens.
McCain & Clinton both effusively greeted the illegal-alien lobbyists as if they had come to champion some great moral & constitutional cause. Read more here
WO Comment: Let's see if we have this right. McCain wants to silence American citizen grassroots activists by including them in a lobby reform bill. But he supports lobbying funded by foreign governments on behalf of illegal aliens. A few words come to mind-- duplicity and hypocrisy, for example--but no doubt McCain would justify these contradictory positions by saying, "It's politics, you wouldn't understand."

Arlen Specter's Tangled Web Of Pork by Chuck Muth

Too Many Legislators Receiving Failing Grades on Spending by Bobby Eberle
The National Taxpayers Union recently issued its annual report on the "big spenders" in Washington DC, and although some legislators received stellar marks from the organization, far too many continue on a spending spree that must stop. A big part of the problem is the Washington mind set that it is "their" money. Perhaps it would come as a shock to them to learn that it's ours!

Read This: Letter from mayor of Iraqi city describing conditions before and after US troops
"Our schools, governmental services, businesses and offices were closed. Our streets were silent, and no one dared to walk them. Our people were barricaded in their homes out of fear; death awaited them around every corner. Terrorists occupied and controlled the only hospital in the city. Their savagery reached such a level that they stuffed the corpses of children with explosives and tossed them into the streets in order to kill grieving parents attempting to retrieve the bodies of their young. This was the situation of our city until God prepared and delivered...the courageous soldiers of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, who liberated this city, ridding it of al-Zarqawi's followers after harsh fighting, killing many terrorists and forcing the remaining butchers to flee the city like rats to the surrounding areas, where the bravery of other 3rd ACR soldiers in Sinjar, Rabiah, Zumar and Avgani finally destroyed them. To the courageous men and women of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, who have changed the city of Tall Afar from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life, to the lion-hearts who liberated our city from the grasp of terrorists who were beheading men, women and children in the streets for many months, to those who spread smiles on the faces of our children and gave us restored hope, through their personal sacrifice and brave fighting, and gave new life to the city after hopelessness darkened our days and stole our confidence in our ability to reestablish our city... God bless this brave Regiment; God bless the families who dedicated these brave men and women. From the bottom of our hearts we thank the families. They have given us something we will never forget... Let America, their families and the world be proud of their sacrifice for humanity and life." —Najim Abdullah Abid Al-Jubouri, mayor of Tall Afar in the Iraqi province of Nineveh (Tall Afar was the main base of operations for the terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi)

Senator Allen's Bill Helps in the Budget Battle
"... if you fail to pass appropriations bills by the start of the fiscal year -- which is your job, which is what you are paid to do -- your paycheck will be held until you complete your job -- period." --Senator George Allen --
Senator Allen just proposed a bill (S. 2262) which calls for the withholding of congressional paychecks if Congressmen and Senators fail to pass all appropriations bills by October 1. This bill is part of a three-pronged attack to reign in pork barrel spending that also includes:
the passage of a balanced budget amendment
and giving the President a line-item veto
WO: Now there's a unique concept--do your job or no paycheck. Here's another: do your job or get fired, that is, not re-elected. Urgent Action Needed! Use the "Contact Lawmakers" banner on the left above to email the President, your senators & representative urging them to support Allen's common sense, reasonable bill (S.2262).
Al Gore's Un-American Comments
The tale of two VPs by Marie Jon' February 18, 2006
While America was being told we all need to await with bated breath to hear every single detail about a tragic hunting accident, the real story was all about a former Vice President named Al Gore.

VP Cheney Accident
Cheney Doesn't Owe the Media an Apology
The hissy fit thrown by the national media appears to be working. Just like spoiled children, the media's temper tantrum over the lack of information flowing directly to them regarding Vice President Cheney's hunting accident has now started to yield results. Democrats, media members, and even some Republicans are beginning to criticize the vice president. Get real! Media Making Mountain out of Mishap

There are few less edifying sights than Terry McAuliffe in full battle cry. But alas there was no avoiding him after the Cheney hunting accident.
I'm just glad he didn't shoot Scalia. Well, everyone's entitled to one Quailgate joke, so that's mine.
The politics of kneecapping failed utterly last week, when partisans tried to make hay of Vice President Dick Cheney's having shot hunting partner Harry Whittington.
I seem to recall a certain prominent (and very likeable) political leader who once drove a car off a bridge. A passenger in that car died. He then waited a little longer than "immediately" before notifying law enforcement officials.
WO: And Kennedy was breaking the law--driving while intoxicated--and having an illicit relationship with the woman who died. Cheney was not breaking the law nor was he having an illicit relationship with his hunting partner.
The Patriot Post
The White House press corps has exploded in righteous fury over the question of the vice president's little shooting party last weekend."
They are outraged that Dick Cheney was too busy making sure his hunting buddy, Harry Whittington, was okay to contact the White House press corps (though the local media was given the whole story). Apparently, they think 911 should have been Mr. Cheney's second call.
Of course, the press has been more patient about notification about accidents involving certain past administrations. For example, you may recall that a month after 9/11, a former White House Co-President, Ms. Hillary Clinton, was a party to a hit-and-run. Senator Clinton was in a hurry to get to her local Westchester County, N.Y., airport on her way to a fundraiser—such a hurry in fact that her driver refused to stop at a security checkpoint at the airport entrance, running down a police officer and dragging him some 300 feet beyond the checkpoint before stopping.
The victim, officer Ernest Dymond, said, "I didn't know if we had a terrorist," and expressed his considerable dismay that neither Senator Clinton nor anyone from her office bothered to contact him in the hospital to check on his condition, much less apologize.
"We live at a moment of revolutionary change in the international order. The rise and violence of radical, possibly caliphate-forming Islam and the huge, culture-changing, unexamined consequences of rampant globalization make the present one of the least predictable moments to be alive. Both government officials and citizens are in desperate need of a national press corps that is alive to the change and digging to find factual hints of the near future. We need the kind of future-oriented intellectual vigor, curiosity and genuine iconoclasm that typified American reporters in the first half of the last century. Instead, as the shooting-party incident exemplified, we have in the White House at the most elite level of American journalism, self-absorbed, self-important men and women who stand on their prerogatives even over marginal and inconsequential matters. Should they ever have a truly daring, creative, productive, hard-researched idea about what is going on in this dangerous world—they should alert the media." —Tony Blankley
