Description
English: This is the pongal pai or the "pongal goodies bag" given to all ration card holders through the Public Distribution System by the govt of Tamil Nadu, India. The bag contained rice and other ingredients to make a small amount of Pongal and was distributed during the first week of january. An example of the freebies/sops provided by the TN govts - the bag features the image of the then Chief Minister en:M. Karunanidhi with the slogan "sonnadhai seivom, seivadhai solvom" (roughly : we talk the walk and walk the talk). The image of Karunanidhi has been blurred because of the unknown status of its copyright
