Allie X Performs Live at the Phi Centre
[edit]Hello, could you explain to me why you deleted the image used on Allie X's page? I explicitly asked the person who released these to release it stating anyone may use the photos for any reason etc. Upon further inspection it appears their tumblr where this was was deleted, but you can see evidence of the exchange here: allieboards.com/statuses/all/?st=315 You can see Jessy posting links to the images and clearly stating they are happy to have their pic up on Wikipedia. Thank you for your time.

After a DN close
[edit]Hiya BrightRaven: Any chance that when you close DN's and suggest a change in license, as at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Macvey Napier by J P Slater.jpg that you update the file template to indicate the change? That way the image won't appear incorrectly licensed and people will be less likely to misunderstand in the future. As I was taking it off my watchlist, I'll fix it, but any possibility you could do this from now on? I really hate throwing the fish back in the ocean with the hook still stuck in them. Cheers! Recent Deletions
[edit]Hey BrightRaven, I am extremely disappointed that you deleted some of my uploads. For the Diamondbacks logos, the logos were from sportslogos.net a Sports logos site. The Snake logo was used more often from 2002 to present day. For the Mission Oak High School logos, the school gave me permission to keep their Wikipedia page up to date. Also I redesigned their school logo that is their asb and athletics logo and as an artist, I do not appreciate when someone deletes my work that I put weeks of hard labor on. So I ask you to undo all your deletions and I will assure you that I am not violating copyrights. I am just contributing like you to make Wikipedia the true online encyclopedia. Here are links that prove my uploads don't violate copyrights:

File:"Alter Hafen-vor 1914".Bremerhaven. Ölgemälde.H. Kohnert.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation
[edit]Hi, BrigthRaven, unfortunately it was not possible to send you an e-mail, therefore I'll use this way for communication. Today you deleted the above named file "because of possible copyright violation". The only reason given was: " [[:c:de:Hans Kohnert|Hans_Kohnert]] died in 1967. ". I am well aware that normally fotos of pictures older than 70 years are allowed to be uploaded to wikimedia commons. However, this case is different. The person in question, Hans Kohnert, was my grandfather. He died in 1967, the original which was painted in the 1920th, is in family property. The foto of the picture was taken by myself. It has been used in the wikipedia-arcticle on "Hans Kohnert" by myself in order to illustrate that my grandfather was not only a well-known entrepreneur and sponsor but also a gifted paineter himself. Could you please explain why you deleted the file and/or if possible re-install the file? Kind regards, Dirk-Franz --Dirk-Franz (talk) 13:55, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Regarding your close of Commons:Deletion requests/File:King Diamond Logo.png, Commons:Licensing states that to be acceptable for Commons, the image must be in the public domain in at least the United States and in the source country of the work. So to my understanding it would not be enough that the logo may be considered PD in Denmark, it would have to be PD in the U.S. as well. I highly doubt it would fall in to PD in the U.S., based on the level of originality in it and prior cases of band logos I've seen deleted from Commons with similar levels of originality (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Death_(metal_band)_(logo).png and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Evanescence_(logo).svg). --IllaZilla (talk) 06:10, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi BrightRaven,
I hope, you can still remember this? On 4 October 2013 you assigned Category:Buddhist temples in Ratchaburi Province to File:Wat.JPG. Do you have any more specific information about this file/building, e.g. name of the temple, location, etc.?

Marine Le Pen
[edit]Salut.
Hello, BrightRaven, here some citations of your and my discussion items, and I would ask you to restore now the pictures, deleted without taking notice from the permissions sent to permissions-de@wikimedia.org, with the ticket number 2015092810007236 at 28 of September. At 4th of November you declared: Hello ... When the permission is reviewed, the files will be restored. Best regards, BrightRaven (Diskussion) 12:03, 4 November 2015 (UTC) ... Hello BrightRaven, here the information from the Schmid family: the young lady had contact about 28 of September with Daniel Baur c/o Permissions-German Wikipedia, and she sent the permission signed by her mother and her aunt (as pdf for each of the pictures) to the address: permissions-de@wikimedia.org, with the ticket number 2015092810007236. Is it possible that you may find the permission with the help of this information? It would be very fine if you could then restore the pictures in the media commons. From there I could insert them again in the wiki article about Fritz Boscovits. Many thanks for your help to restore them. Sincerely yours, --MGBiblio (Diskussion) 19:59, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Hello BrightRaven, could you please inform me, if you agree with the restoration of the 7 pictures by Fritz Boscovits? At 4 November You sent me the note "When the permission is reviewed, the files will be restored", and I sent you the indication, that the permission was sent by the Schmid family at 28 September (after correspondence with Daniel Baur, Permission-German Wikipedia), to permissions-de@wikimedia.org, with the ticket number 2015092810007236.

Sir, These pics are published in a Japanese magazine or newspaper in 1955. Because these are captured in Japan Wrestling Alliance, Japan during a tournament. One of them against Rikidōzan and another against King Kong (Emile Czaja).
Information is written in Japanese, so I can't understand anything. You plz check when I upload them. -Dedha9 (talk) 13:47, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

David Virgin, DCR
[edit]Hi there Patootik here. Please advise on how I can prove I own the copyright to the images David Virgin and Dublin City Rounders which you have makred for deletion. I had some images deleted recently, and rightly so. I uploaded them without fully understanding the terms, and that's why I didn't contest the decision to delete (some were mine, some were not, all we deleted because of the doubt). But in uploading these David Virgin and DCR pictures I was very careful to make sure these are pictures I took myself. The reason for the low quality and no EXIF is because I just copied them from Facebook rather than going through my archive to find them. And the reason for the professional looking images is because I'm a photography enthusiast, and I use Adobe Lightroom for my editing. These images are 100% my own works, and if my word is not enough please advise how I can prove it. Or if I have to remove these, how to make it clear that they are my own when uploading in future.
All advice appreciated. I'm not trying to be difficult, just want to represent these Wikipedia pages well with a photo each and do it according to the rules.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Hello BrightRaven I looked through my HDD but was unable to locate those photos, I may not have the originals anymore, or they are on another HDD. I have however uploaded 2 new pictures that are straight from my HDD, one has been edited in Adobe Lightroom, the other is unedited. The edited David Virgin one was taken with my Fujifilm Finepix S4000, and the Dublin City Rounders picture was taken with my Sony DSC H-200. All the EXIF info should be intact, though the date stamp on the David Virgin picture is incorrect for some reason. Hopefully you will find these to be legitimate uploads to Wikimedia Commons. I will be sure to only upload images from the original source to avoid these issues in the future. Thanks for your help.
Kind regards.

[edit]Hello mr. BrightRaven this photograph as you referred for copyright violation i am not sure if its possible. Because the engraving work in the photo belongs to me as signed with my name and still in exhibition in istanbul graphic art museum imoga. If you are referring that i have to prove that this work is belong to me, i can send various confirmation including contacting with the museum for a solid confirmation aswell. I am a beginner with wikipedia editing. So i have to learn more about references and sources.
Bonjour BrightRaven,
me voilà bien ennuyé ayant pensé que tout était OK mais me voilà confronté à un Bot (bien difficile de lui écrire !).
Concernant le fichier File:Lyon 3e. Montchat.

You kept this in an earlier discussion, but I'm pretty sure the uploader works for the company, as he has provided similar un-letterheaded, unsigned docs as license proof, linked directly to the company server, and in a directory that is not publicly accessible. Frankly, I think the user works for the company and wrote these himself. I'd like to re-open the discussion. MSJapan (talk) 22:41, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

File:Out of heaven zx spectrum ulaplus palette.png
[edit]Hello, this file is my own work, it was made in a freeware editor, it is a fragment of a larger work (not the whole production), the production is freeware. The photo that was a base to this image was also taken by me. It was released in 2014. The download link is http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=63763. The image is a demonstration of the ULAplus graphic chip. Abrimaal (talk) 09:49, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- The educational purpose of this example screenshot is obvious. While the standard ULA chip is able to display 15 colors, the enhanced ULAplus can display 256 colors, but still in 8x8 px blocks. 8 bits per each color, 3 for red and green, 2 for blue. The color palette is arranged in 4 CLUTs and it is stored as a separate file. Because of the CLUTs, the number of colors displayed at once is limited to 64 indexed colors. This palette is not listed in the article List of color palettes yet. I have uploaded a new version of the image, without text. I could convert the example parrot image and add the palette view, however the deletion request discouraged me to work with this. So do what you want with this image, I don't see a big difference in educational values between a parrot and an apple. Regards, Abrimaal (talk) 17:57, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

File:Autoportrait 1.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

[edit]Bonjour,

Hi BrightRaven. Can you put this user on your watchlist? They've uploaded 100+ out of scope personal images so far, and I just tagged another 10 for deletion. I ask you to keep a watch on them because you tagged a large number of these personal images for deletion a while ago. I've left him a note asking him to stop uploading these personal images. A block may be needed if he continues uploading his personal image collections. lNeverCry 21:26, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Your VFC installation method is deprecated
[edit]Hello BrightRaven, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. Map of Electorate of Mainz
[edit]Hello BrightRaven. I just noticed that your map of Mainz File:Électorat de Mayence.png also shows the Prince-Bishopric of Worms in green, as if it was part of Mainz. I therefore changed the description. --Lubiesque (talk) 18:56, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello
I'm writing you as one of the most active Commons users right now. Since a while now, the idea of a dedicated Commons conference has been floating around. But since the last Wikimania concrete steps have been taken to actually make it happen next year. If you're interested in participation or maybe willing to help organize the first ever Commons Conference, I invite you to check out the project page and leave your comments; or just show your support for the idea, by signing up.
Cheers,

Amicalement--Picte (talk) 17:18, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
Tm et la sur-catégorisation
[edit]Salut !
Cordialement, BarnCas (talk) 02:25, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Henri(s) Uzureau, 2 maîtres verriers
[edit]Salut,

Mazloomi
[edit]I would like to add, BrightRaven erroneously requested deletion of one of my images, "Spirit of Forgiveness" by Carolyn Mazloomi. The quilt was given to me by Mazloomi, it is in my personal collection, I photographed it and own the photo, I have Carolyn's permission to use the photo freely, and it belongs on her page. It would be great if other contributors such as BrightRaven could stop going around making requests without more information. The request and the deletion were incorrect, and now I have to figure out how to reverse BrightRaven's error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billvolckening (talk • contribs) 18:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

The licensing on File:Bottazzi paris la defense public art.jpg appears to be a mess. I believe you are by far the most active person on Commons of the many who have been involved with this image. Is there any chance you could take on sorting this out? Thanks in advance. - Jmabel ! talk 02:01, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Done. Since the licences are inside {{Art Photo}}, I think that it is not necessary to have other licences below. {{PD-Art}} was irrelevant in this case (this is not a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art). Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!
[edit]Dear BrightRaven
Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.
After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.
The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.
As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.
Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Please take a short survey regarding UCoC
[edit]Hello BrightRaven,
I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.
As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.
You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.
Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

This image is not my own work and is copyright of private property and living persons who have not given consent to have the image hosted on Wikimedia. I uploaded this image and made a mistake by using someone elses copyright image from their camera, I was very young at the time and confused. Please delete this image as it is illegal to host it. Can you, please, verify if the 70pma copyright expiration term really applies in this case? I mean, if the author "died for Grance" there is 30year copyright extension, not swallowed by 50pma->70pma default copyright expiration term change (50+30+war extension > 70). Can you verify if this case applies here? Ankry (talk) 01:35, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
[edit]Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

deletion of Category:ZF113 (road sign, Belgium)
[edit]Thanks for looking to help Commons clean.
You deleted Category:ZF113 (road sign, Belgium). However, this is a valid road sign. Another user also made a diagram of the same road sign (I removed it accidentally from this category): File:Belgian traffic sign ZF113.png
I also find the number ZF113 on the list with all road signs (Flanders as a region of Belgium has not the right to introduce its own road signs, so it uses exactly the Belgian road signs): https://www.verkeersborden.vlaanderen/overzicht_verkeersborden.pdf Anyway, there is a road sign necessary to end the zone that starts with ZF111.
Can you undo the deletion of the category?
Sound Logo
[edit]Hello,
I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you,

Removing File:Riyadh All Star XI vs PSG.jpg
[edit]Hello,
I am just gonna ask you why is it a copyright violation? I was doing a wiki about a draft, when suddenly you removed my file. Why, just why?
Thank You,

File:Marriage and coronation of King Babar and Queen Celeste.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.
