For the notice and page about freedom of panorama, an important topic. Hopefully the Foundation is working diligently in governmental and legal circles to fully obtain that freedom in the U.S. and elsewhere. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Category:Deletion requests by specific subject/Buildings and monuments

edit

Hi. Just curious why you created this page as a subpage of the category (and a subcategory) rather than just a subcategory like the others in Category:Deletion requests by specific subject. I'm guessing it was just a mistake, but figured I'd check first if you have an objection to just moving it. — Rhododendrites talk12:38, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Rhododendrites it is to classify those that are related to Freedom of Panorama-related deletions but are categorized per a specific landmark, not a country (like Category:Burj Khalifa-related deletion requests. It is a subcategory as it is in the namespace "Category", not a page. Although it may be OK to move it to Category:Architecture and public art-related deletion requests), it seems too general for me. What about "Freedom of panorama-related discussions"? — Rhododendrites talk14:16, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Rhododendrites one issue for that subcategory name. Other users may claim it can be redundant to Category:FOP-related deletion requests, others may even suggest moving all country-related categories (like "Philippine FOP cases") there. In my perspective, it's more organized to have separate subcategories for the specific landmarks and for the countries. Perhaps follow the system at Category:Derivative work-related deletion requests? There is a subcategory for countries (Category:Derivative work-related deletion requests by country). Ah! Yes, redundant indeed. Ok, so returning to the original notion, what about just "Building and monument-related deletion requests"? (Just getting rid of the "Deletion requests by specific subject" part of the title, but still of course putting it in Category:Deletion requests by specific subject). — Rhododendrites talk18:10, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
For some added context, I was trying to go through some deletion sorting categories to find some precedents. I was surprised that many DRs don't seem to have these categories and many are out of date (i.e. not yet moved from /pending to /deleted or /kept even after years). Figuring it might be because it's a difficult system, I made this script: User:Rhododendrites/drsort.js. It's a work in progress, but I'm starting with subject-based categories and came across this one.
If you do a lot of DR sorting and want to try it out, you're welcome to (again it's a work in progress -- I've been testing it at Commons:Deletion requests/testsandbox). Basically it creates drop-down menus for subject, country, source (like Unsplash or 500px), and property (as in particular intellectual property brands). I'm manually adding the names of all the relevant cats to populate the drop-down, and still sorting them. Once you select one, set the status and then "apply". If you select a status without selecting any category, it'll change the status of all current categories to that status. — Rhododendrites talk18:17, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

UDR of UAE files

edit

Hi, I undeleted the files. The DR is very long, and I don't have the time now to remove the DR notice on the files. Could you do that please? Thanks for your help, Yann (talk) 09:13, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Yann will do. Thanks for restoring. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 09:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
