NY Times Article on Abortion Misleading; LifeSiteNews.com Uncovers the Truth There are two important issues involved in this story. One concerns journalistic integrity. The other reveals the motives behind some pro-abortion advocates, in this case a UN-accredited non-governmental organization called Ipas that sells portable abortion devices over the telephone and operates in Latin America, specifically in this instance El Salvador where this drama unfolds. Is this organization, and others like it, protecting the rights and welfare of women or trying to make a buck to the detriment of women and their unborn infants? Read the details here >>>
Keith Ellison: Lying to the Infidels? By Deborah Weiss--Minnesota Democratic Rep.-elect Keith Ellison (aka Keith Hakim or Keith Ellison Muhammad) is the first Muslim elected to Congress. His promise to take the oath of office on January 4 with his hand on the Koran rather than the Bible has sparked much controversy.
Pro-Abortion Pelosi Insults Catholic Faith By Judie Brown--The new speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, is showing what I consider extreme arrogance, even for a pro-abortion figure in public life who claims to be a faithful Catholic. Her handlers are making it abundantly clear that anything goes in their effort to showcase Pelosi and her life story, including the use of a Catholic Mass to cement her public image as a Catholic mother and grandmother.

New Congress looking to improve, not abandon, No Child Left Behind
Family Research Council: No Federal Bureaucrat Left Behind In an interview before the fifth anniversary of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings defended what the administration still believes is its greatest legislative triumph. Despite increased pressure to rewrite the law, Spellings said, "We've made more progress in the last five years than we have in the previous 28." She even went so far as to praise incoming education committee chairman Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) as a "stalwart" who "stayed true" to the law. While Mrs. Spellings praises NCLB, I can tell you from experience that state lawmakers, educators, students, and parents are frustrated with the heavy federal controls the law imposed on them. The original principles of the Act included more education choice for students. As the Federal government looks to renew this law it should return to those principles--and leave the parents and local schools in charge.

If "mainstream middle-class sentiment in Europe" equates burning children alive with hanging the man (Saddam Hussein) responsible for burning them, then mainstream middle-class sentiment in Europe, to quote Mr. Bumble, "is . . .
Steve Yuhas--CNN’s obtuse logic: Show American troops being shot, but not a dictator being hanged Peaceniks around the world along with their complicit anti-American (and obviously anti-Iraqi) journalists, governments and protestors against the death penalty have been blessed with a new poster boy who just happens to have 72 brand spanking new virgins at his disposal: Saddam Hussein, executed at 69...

Federalism vs. States' Rights
WO Comment: While many wish to maintain states' rights, at what point does that inhibit efficiency and timeliness in enacting legislation for the common good, achieving "public utility" for all Americans at once, not just those in one state while others must wait for the reinvention of the wheel fifty times until the good is accomplished in each state?
